3 Reasons Why We’re Expecting The Unbeaten Record To Continue Against Southampton

|

Seven games into the new Premier League season and things are looking pretty rosy in the Chelsea garden.

This afternoon, Maurizio Sarri takes his squad to Southampton looking to extend the unbeaten start, in the Premier League, to 8 games.

A win today could see Chelsea climb up the table to either second or third, depending on the outcome come of the late afternoon kick-off between Liverpool and Manchester City.

However, it’d be foolish to assume that Chelsea will, automatically, take the three points on offer this afternoon, although the record books do show that should be the case.

Looking through the plethora of statistics available to us, we’ve come across three that infer it will be Chelsea’s day.

1 – The last 6 fixtures, in all competitions, between the two sides, have seen Chelsea merge victorious on all 6 occasions.

2 – Last season, the two sides met on 3 occasions with Chelsea emerging the victors on each, even coming from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at the St Marys’ Stadium.

3 – The last 11 matches between the two side have only produced 1 win for Southampton, with Chelsea winning 8 and drawing 2, the victory coming in March 2013, in a Premier League fixture.

Let’s hope I’ve not put a curse on our chances of extending what is a decent record against Southampton.
