Got up this morning and stumbled on an interesting piece of news which claims that Romelu Lukaku will be allowed to quit Chelsea and join Everton this summer – but only if Jose Mourinho lands Ross Barkley in return, according to the Sunday People.

That is the deal shaping up between the clubs as Mourinho looks to breathe new life into his squad at the end of the season. They claim Jose regards Barkley as a natural successor to Frank Lampard, who is set to quit the Stamford Bridge side for Major League Soccer’s LA Galaxy.

That has raised the prospect of a move south for Barkley, with the Toffees’ manager Roberto Martinez also keen to land Lukaku on a permanent basis. The Belgium international’s loan move to Merseyside was only sanctioned on the final day of the transfer window. Eyebrows were raised at the time and Mourinho has since challenged the striker to ‘tell the country why you left’.

I am not going to believe this story just yet but I think if Lukaku is leaving permanently, it will be nice if another special gem in Barkley comes in…swapping Lukaku and getting Barkley to replace Lampard and getting two world class strikers (say Costa and Balloteli) wouldn’t be a bad idea but it would mean us losing one of the best CF prospects in Lukaku.

But if it does happen, it will be easy to say that Jose doesn’t rate Lukaku highly. Personally I’m so indifferent about this news due to the fact that we need a DLP and probably 2 strikers. Swapping Lukaku for Barkley will give us a DLP and we will have to sign two strikers, keeping Lukaku will mean we have to sign a DLP and most likely a world-class striker.

Which do you think will be the better deal at the end of the day?
