As I predicted, ahead of the fixture with Hull City, Petr Cech eclipsed the club clean sheet record held by Peter Bonetti.

Cech now has 209 clean sheets to his name, a remarkable feat.

However, yesterday also saw Cech make it 150 clean sheets in the Premier League which sees him second in the all-time Premier League list, trailing David James by 19.

But we`d like to point out that Cech, in keeping those 150 clan sheets has the highest clean-sheet ratio of 48%, just ahead of Pepe Reina on 47% and Edwin van der Sar on 42%

When asked about the record after the victory at the KC Stadium, Cech modestly remarked,

“The most important thing is we keep winning games.”

“We want to win the league and, hopefully, clean sheets will help us achieve that goal.”

“We have just won an important game, now we are top of the league for the first time in a long time. Now we want to stay there.”

Indeed we do, but that landmark figure of 209 deserves to be mentioned does it not!
