After missing the 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford, the previous week, against Manchester United, Thibaut Courtois returned to the starting eleven for the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur.

The presence of the six feet five inch tall 24-year-old Belgian is always reassuring.

This season he has returned to his best form and is a commanding presence in the penalty area.

But, after injuring his ankle in the build-up to the Manchester United fixture, in the Premier League, playing basketball of all things, Thibaut thought his season might be over after sustaining ankle ligament damage, with Thibaut remarking about the injury,

“It was swollen. I was afraid the season was over. Fortunately, it was not too bad.”

Thankfully, it seems that the medical staff worked wonders and Courtois was able to make a welcome return on Saturday, at Wembley, something the goalkeeper thanks the medical staff for, adding,

“That I can play now says something about the medical staff.

“I have to say thank you and maybe buy them a bottle of wine.”

Just keep away from the basketball court please, at least until the season is over or the Premier League title has been won.
