When Joe Cole left us for the Scousers a couple of years ago, he allegedly referred to Liverpool as the biggest club in the country, and considering the level of success he enjoyed with us, I disdained him.

But in a recent interview, he has straightened the record, remarking,

‘When I joined (Liverpool), the guy interviewing me said ‘you’ve joined the biggest club in the country’ and reeled off the trophies they’d won.’

‘I just said ‘Yeah, if you put it like that, I suppose you’re right’, and Liverpool used that as the headline too the interview. I didn’t want to upset anyone. But obviously they are not the biggest club any more”

‘How do you judge how big a club are?”

‘Nottingham Forest won the European Cup twice but they’re not a bigger club than Chelsea.’

Reading between the lines, he probably knew the truth all along. Let the scousers hear. All is forgiven Joe, you may be lucky; we are bringing our oldies back to finish off their career here, you may be called upon!
