As we may have mentioned earlier today, in the build-up to the Premier League game against Crystal Palace, we said it wouldn’t be a stroll in the park.
Crystal Palace always seem to have this habit of doing well against Chelsea, a case proven by the fact they’ve won on their last two visits to Stamford Bridge, on both occasions by a 2-1 score-line.
When, in the eighth minute of the second half, Townsend made it 1-1, with a decent finish, it looked as if history could very well repeat itself.
But, the introduction of Eden Hazard changed things instantly and, thankfully, Chelsea went on to record a 3-1 win and extended their unbeaten start to the 2018 / 2019 season to 11 games, winning 8 and drawing 3.
History shows that this has now happened on three occasions with Chelsea also going unbeaten in the opening games of the 2005 / 2006 season and the 2014 / 2015 season, on both of those occasions Chelsea won the Premier League title.
Could it be an omen?
