And Another Potential Transfer Target Appears To Be A No-Go

|

Aside from landing Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund and then agreeing to loan the player back to the Bundesliga club, for the remainder of the 2018 / 2019 season, Chelsea only incoming activity in the January transfer window was the loan signing of Gonzalo Higuain.

All-in-all, considering it was an opportunity for Maurizio Sarri to put his foot-print on the squad, it was a disappointing window.

Hopefully, with the squad needing a clear-out, the forthcoming summer transfer window might be more active.

However, one player Chelsea have been linked with, Nabil Fekir looks as if he won’t be joining us.

The highly rated 25-year-old French forward, currently on the books of the French club Lyon and a player who has also attracted interest from our Premier League rivals, Liverpool, looks set to remain at his current club.

According to the tabloid news source, the Mirror, the Lyon president, Jean-Michael Aulas, is confident that Fekir is set to put pen-to-paper on a contract extension at the club.

Although Fekir is a talented player who could well have made an impact at Stamford Bridge, I can’t help feeling that we’d be better off spending our cash in bringing in players who are natural leaders, something that the squad has been lacking this season, unfortunately, when the going gets tough we’ve nobody tough enough to get going!
