And the Sale of Diego Costa Means?

The news that broke yesterday, whereby Chelsea and Atletico Madrid had agreed terms for the sale of Diego Costa, saw Chelsea approach a remarkable milestone.

According to the good folk of the Mirror, since January 2014, Chelsea have raked in a considerable sum of money courtesy of outgoing transfers.

Our reference source is championing the fact that sales of unwanted / not-needed players has now generated almost £500,000,000 in revenue.

Now that amount of money is, in anyone`s language, a significant amount of cash.

More importantly though, it should provide a huge chunk of the fortune needed to take the club to the next level and help to fund the rebuilding of Stamford Bridge.

In a time when football is awash with money, it`s heartening to see that a club, who were accused by supporters of other clubs of buying the title, are now moving towards a more sound financial footing and are moving away from being reliant on the personal fortune of our marvellous owner Roman Abramovich.
