Just twenty-four hours have passed since our last update but, still, speculation continues to link Andy Carroll with a move to Stamford Bridge.

The BBC, are peddling the suggestion that David Moyes would quite like to acquire the services of Michy Batshuayi and that Carroll could be heading in the opposite direction.

But another source, the leading red-top publication, the Daily Mirror, offers something a little more sinister.

Our referenced source is peddling the inference that the 29-year-old striker has told his current club that he is unable to train due to an ankle problem.

However, the Hammers are claiming that questioning such a claim after scans proved that there is no reason for him not to train.

Being churlish, would it be rude to suggest that Carroll could be fearful of picking up an injury that could scupper any proposed move.

After all this is a striker that has made only eight starts in the Premier League this season for his club.

Like we said yesterday, there`s this growing belief that this is a deal that is going to happen no matter what we think.
