The continual speculation linking the Everton striker Romelu Lukaku to a move to Stamford Bridge could be actually harming his chances of getting his dream move.
Although Everton have put a price-tag of £100 million on the players head, speculation continues to link the striker who has 25 goals to his name, with a move to SW6.
The latest piece of transfer tittle-tattle, courtesy of the UK`s leading tabloid publication, The Sun, implies that Lukaku has told his close friends that he wants to make a return to Stamford Bridge.
Unfortunately, this continual speculation might be playing into Everton`s hands. Having already raised his price-tag, the inference is there that Chelsea may be the last club that Everton want to sell the player to.
Those at Goodison Park reacted with strong words when constant speculation linked Chelsea with a move for their promising centre-back, John Stones.
Although Chelsea upped their bid to amounts that made us all wary of doing business, Stones was eventually sold to Manchester City.
But there could be a slight difference in Lukaku`s case, whereas Stones admitted he wanted to stay in the north-west, Lukaku is chomping at the bit for a move back to SW6, believing he has unfinished business to attend to.
Another surprising twist in the tale though could still hurt Chelsea`s ambitions of recruiting the Premier League`s current top-scorer.
Speculation has also emerged, as confirmed by the Manchester Evening News, that Jose Mourinho, the very boss who never really gave Lukaku a shot at Chelsea, is interested in taking the player to Old Trafford.
The above source also happens to mention that whilst waiting for the saga to unravel, 23-year-old Lukaku has subscribed to both CFC TV and MUFC TV.
