Answers On A Postcard Please, Is It Time For Chelsea To Axe Sarri?

|

Last night, words failed me!

Never in my wildest dreams did I expect my Chelsea to travel to the Vitality Stadium and get walloped 4-0, especially after going into the break at 0-0.

The defeat was the heaviest for many a year and the biggest since Roman Abramovich took over the club.

Only Chelsea, after two good results in the domestic cup competitions, could suffer such an embarrassing reverse, a capitulation that would suggest something is majorly wrong at our fine club.

After the game, and as reported by the BBC, Maurizio Sarri inferred that perhaps he might not be the man for the Chelsea job.

To the Italian’s credit, after such a disappointing performance he didn’t lambaste his side in public but did so in the dressing room.

Our source infers that Sarri asked his backroom staff to leave the dressing room whilst he conducted an inquest that lasted close to forty-five minutes.

What was said remains between the players and the manager but any doubts I had about Sarri not being the man for the job are very prevalent this morning.

It was always going to be a risk appointing somebody who had never won any silverware to manage a club that is accustomed to putting, at least one trophy a season in the cabinet.

If Sarri is to survive this latest catastrophe, a big result is needed against relegation-threatened Huddersfield Town this weekend, but even if Chelsea were to win 3-0, do you believe the rot will have been stopped or are we set to carry on with this awful Sarr-ball style of football whereby the ball goes sideways, backwards forever without the side looking as if they have any real penetration, despite the wealth of attacking talent the club possesses.

So, to finish, do you believe the time for Sarri to be axed is fast approaching?
