Ahead of Chelsea`s weekend fixture against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, Antonio has been having his say on recent media speculation regarding his future. In his Friday pre-match press conference Conte put to bed talk of an imminent exit.

‘For two weeks I am reading wrong things. I did an interview two weeks ago and I am sure the translation was wrong.
‘In the interview I only said that one day, in the future, I would like to go back to Italy. One day, in the future.’

‘But I know very well my position. I have two years contract with Chelsea to go, I am happy to work for this club, I am happy to work with my players, I like working with my players. I like to have this great feeling with our supporters. I don`t see problems.’

Once again the British media have managed to make a mountain out of a molehill. Suggestions that Conte wanted to go home, very much suiting their narrative. Even better from the manager was when he answered a question that has been asked here on the Vital Chelsea website. Where are his wife and daughter, are they in the UK or back in Italy. Once again the manager was keen to clear up the speculation,

‘Another situation I want to clarify is that my family stays here with me, not in Italy. My daughter is going to the school here, in Cobham. When you want to write something, it’s important to write the truth. My family stay here, not in Italy.’

That is indeed good to hear, we can certainly say that with his family around him, Antonio will be feeling better settled at Chelsea, and we can be assured he’s here at least until the end of his current contract, unless Roman decrees otherwise.
