Last night was painful!

Watching England lumbering around the Wembley pitch had me teetering on the verge of dropping off into dreamland.

Their play was, to put it politely, uninspiring and I couldn`t wait for the final whistle to come. The fact that Daniel Sturridge netted a winner became irrelevant in the waves of boredom that were engulfing me.

However, despite the lacklustre display and the fact that we looked an ordinary side against a country shorn of its best players, Jose Mourinho is of the opinion that, possibly, England can win the World Cup, remarking to the media,

“England? Everybody says no, no, no, no, no – I always say why not, because I don`t understand why not.”

“When I see the players and the clubs where they play, I don`t understand why one day it cannot happen. They know how to play for the big clubs, they play in the Champions League which is probably the most difficult football in the world, so I don`t see why they don`t win. So one day they have to do it.”

One day Jose maybe, but I`m certain 2014 won`t be that day unless we have bucketfuls of luck, some beneficial refereeing decisions and most of the best sides in the world don`t turn up.

Part of me is convinced that Jose`s words my be, how you say, a little tongue in cheek!

However, I`d be delighted to hear your views, please feel free to express them in our comments facility.
