It doesn’t really get any better when you wake up on a Saturday morning to find headlines in the papers screaming Atletico Madrid are still interested in signing Fernando Torres this summer; essentially sonorous music to many a Chelsea fan’s ears.

The former Los Rojiblancos captain who arrived Stamford Bridge from Anfield in a Premier League record £50m deal has consistently flopped with The Blues since his 2011 move and has been widely expected to find pastures anew following the arrival of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid, same club where he is still seen as a cult hero.

Spanish paper, AS says the Spanish champions are still interested and are exploring all avenues to take the 30-year-old who is statistically our worst striker since the turn of the century, if not worst in our history, back to the Vicente Calderón Stadium after having been told in no uncertain terms that Andre Schürrle isn’t an option – a move most Chelsea fans will be hoping happens so we can finally get the all vital second striker as proper competition or cover for Diego Costa (who may eventually not be as lucky to escape the sort of horror legbreak tackle Bruno Alves made on him last night), and Didier Drogba.

For me, it’s make the deal happen already, amigos!

How about you? Still hoping Torres will one day boil your potatoes?
