And so Chelsea head back to the United Kingdom having finished their pre-season tour of the US on a high.

After slipping to a 4-2 defeat in the opening fixture against New York Red Bulls, Chelsea steadied the ship with a win against Paris-St-Germain. Last night in the final fixture Barcelona were the opposition and once again Chelsea were to emerge the victors after a penalty shoot-out. This time though the margin was to be 4-0 after the game had ended 2-2.

Chelsea opened the scoring through a fantast goal from Eden Hazard. The Belgian emphasised his class by going on a mazy run, beating several players before coolly placing his shot into the net from twelve yards out, with just nine minutes on the clock.

The second half saw Barcelona respond well. The Catalan giants equalized when Luis Suarez picked up a clearing header from Azpilicueta. The Uruguayan shaped to shoot and when the defenders committed themselves simply dinked the ball over Courtois, despite a valiant attempt by Zouma to clear the ball, the officials ruled it had crossed the line.

Fourteen minute slater Chelsea fell behind when Sandro cut inside and beat Courtois with a curling shot inside the far post. But Chelsea responded well and a spell of pressure saw the equalizer come in the 86th minute when Barcelona failed to deal with a free kick and Gary Cahill`s looping header ended up in the net. The defender received a bloody nose in the process and was immediately taken off.

For the second fixture in succession, Chelsea were forced into a penalty shoot-out. Falcao, Moses and Ramires all scored for Chelsea, whilst Iniesta and Sandro also converted for Barcelona. Unfortunately for the Catalan side Halilovic and Pique missed and when Loic Remy strode up to score from twelve yards victory was ours.

Next up are Arsenal, at Wembley, in the Community Shield this Sunday.
