Mutterings in the press, particularly the tabloid variety, suggested that Chelsea might see their move for Asmir Begovic hijacked by Manchester United.

However, this afternoon, it doesn`t seem as if Chelsea are too fazed by the suggestion with the London Evening Standard stepping forward to declare that Chelsea expect to complete the deal this week.

As we`ve mentioned before, Chelsea upped their original bid of £6 million to £8 million and are now set to include a player, on loan, as part of the deal.

Rumours suggest that the loan player is now a straight choice between two, with Victor Moses and Patrick Bamford in the frame, with it appearing any request for young Reuben Loftus-Cheek is out of the question.

It also is being reported that Begovic has agreed a four-year contract whereby he`ll earn £75,000 a week as he looks to join the Champions of England as understudy to Thibaut Courtois.

To us it looks as if the negotiations have gone too far down the line for this deal to be de-railed, let`s hope us and the London Evening Standard are not wrong!
