And finally, it looks as if Chelsea and Stoke City have reached an agreement over the Bosnian goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

After increasing the initial offer from £6 million to £8 million, the consensus of opinion was that the deal was being held up whilst Chelsea and Stoke City negotiated over which player would be going to the Britannia Stadium on a loan deal.

Initially the gossip suggested that it would be one of a trio of Victor Moses, Reuben Loftus-Cheek or Patrick Bamford.

However, as it turns out, Stoke City have elected to take 22-year-old Marco Van Ginkel as the player spending a season on loan at the Britannia Stadium.

The deal will suit Chelsea in two ways, firstly we`ve gained an experienced and classy keeper as back-up to Thibaut Courtois in case the talented Belgian picks up an injury and secondly the move to Stoke, for Marco Van Ginkel, will give Jose Mourinho and his team the perfect opportunity to keep an eye on how the young Dutchman progresses in the Premier League.

Stoke are keen to get the deal done so that Marco Van Ginkel can join the squad on their pre-season trip to Singapore.

All that we await now is official confirmation from the clubs announcing the successful conclusion of the deal.
