Continuing our search to link together the Chelsea Brotherhood we feature the Icelandic Supporters Club.

The Icelandic Chelsea Supporters’ Club was founded on March 16th 1997in a bar in Reykjavík where 22 hardcore fans were watching the Blues destroy Sunderland 6:2 in the Premiership, two months before the first cup in 26 years was won.

Since then much water has passed under the bridge (and many players and managers through the revolving doors at the the Bridge) and the membership is growing each year. The number of members is now 192 compared to 147 last year.

The club is affiliated to Chelsea Football Club and organizes trips to the Mecca of all Chelsea fans, Stamford Bridge, in co-operation with Express Travels. About 200 Icelanders were at the Bridge last April to witness the Blues’ hammering of pretenders Man. Utd. and securing the title. The fan club also provides tickets for those fans who want to go on their own and on every match day there are sure to be dozens of Icelandic supporters mingling with the blue crowd on Fulham Road.

The URL of the fan club’s website is http://www.chelsea.is and the e-mail address is chelsea@chelsea.is.
