Cahill Chelsea’s Career Continuation Questioned

|

At 32-years-of-age has the Chelsea career of Gary Cahill come to an end?

The reason we ask is that speculation has appeared, courtesy of the news source, the Evening Standard, that the centre-back may be looking to leave Stamford Bridge.

There are a couple of factors that could influence that decision.

Firstly, Chelsea are showing some serious interest in bringing the Juventus defender, Daniele Rugani, to the club, meaning Cahill’s first-team appearances could be few and far between next season.

Secondly, the player only has one-year left on his contract and knows that if he were to be offered a new deal it would only be in accordance with Chelsea’s over-30 policy of awarding just a one-year deal.

Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, Gary Cahill has had an exceptional career, winning every domestic trophy available and also sampling wonderful nights when the Champions League and Europa League trophies were hoisted high into the air.

But, what is your view on the future of Gary Cahill?

Is it time to say cheerio or does he still have a major role to play at the club?
