A couple of days have passed now since Petr Cech crossed the great London divide and signed for Arsenal.

I`m sincerely hoping that all the antagonism towards the deal has started to die out. Real Chelsea fans don`t threaten to kill someone who decided it was, through circumstances, time to move on, neither do they burn replica Cech shirts, we leave that to Liverpool.

Being at Arsenal, there`s no doubt that our paths will cross again and there is every likelihood that Cech will raise his game against us, these things happen.

But, listening to Cech discussing his career, it appears our paths could cross numerous times before Cech decides to hang up his gloves, with our Czech legend remarking in the media that he wants to play on until he is forty years of age,

“I don`t want to speak about retirement for another seven years. That`s my target and then I will see.

“You can have a plan but, sometimes, it doesn`t turn out the way you want.

“This move is one of those things I didn`t expect – but I`m glad it happened.

“In football you never know what`s around the corner and retirement is something I don`t plan.

“I`m just looking forward to my new challenge. I`ll just go in, do my work and show I am worthy of a place.

“As a player it is training., travel, hotel and play.

“This is why one part of me might say after 23 years as a professional I have had enough of this, that is what I want to do something else.”

And on the morons. Imbeciles, idiots and half-wits that posted abusive messages on social networks about his move to North London from SW6, Cech added,

“The true fans have sent me messages that are pleasing and positive.

“True fans will appreciate what I have done for Chelsea and the legacy I have left there.

“There are some people who have left me negative messages but they are not true Chelsea fans.”

Never has a truer word been spoken!
