Speculation, in the media, continues to generate numerous column inches relating to the goalkeeping situation at Stamford Bridge.
It seems that we are destined to have a new incumbent between the posts when the 2018 / 2019 Premier League season commences.
Leading the way, with the inference that Thibaut Courtois is definitely on his way are marca, with the insinuation that the 26-year-old is destined to join Real Madrid, with the fee being set at £31 million.
Although Courtois is set to enter the last year of his current contract with Chelsea, I’d be very surprised if the fee was as low as that, especially with Courtois in his prime.
But, if Courtois is to clear his locker at Chelsea, who can we expect to replace him?
Well, according to the news source, Sky Sports Chelsea are looking to bring in a goalkeeper who is currently on the books of a Premier League club, with two keepers getting a mention, one of whom is very familiar to Chelsea supporters.
According to our aforementioned source, Chelsea could be set to make an offer that would see Petr Cech make a sentimental return to Chelsea, but at 36-years-of-age, does Cech still have what’s needed to compete at the top level game-after-game?
The other name mentioned by our referenced source is that of the 31-year-old Leicester City goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel. If Chelsea were to procure the Danish international it would see that familiar route trodden by N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater followed once again.
But, one keeper who Chelsea have been linked to, the Brazilian, Alisson, isn’t set for a move to London.
Although Chelsea were ready to gazump Liverpool when it came to a price, it seems, if the news source, the Liverpool Echo has got its facts right that the keeper is set to join Liverpool.
So, with Courtois set to get his wish, so it would seem, to join Real Madrid, which of the two, out of Peter Cech and Kasper Schmeichel, would you prefer to see between the sticks at Stamford Bridge.
