With Chelsea`s season up and running, our thoughts here at Vital Chelsea turn briefly to the Champions League. After missing out on qualification and not playing in world football`s top club tournament last season, this time round, it`s game on.

As league winners going into the draw, which takes place in Monaco this Thursday at 5pm, Chelsea will be in the top seeding, Pot 1. The Sun have been having a look at who we could face in this season`s tournament. Chelsea won`t face the winners of the other top seven league`s that fall under UEFA`s umbrella. Therefore we won`t face

Real Madrid Spain)
Bayern Munich (Germany)
Juventus (Italy)
Benfica (Portugal)
Monaco (France)
Spartak Moscow (Russia)
Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine)

We also won`t be grouped with anyone from our own domestic league, that rules out,

Tottenham Hotspur
Manchester City
Manchester United
Liverpool (should they qualify)

Chelsea will face one opponent from each of the other three pots. With qualification games still to be completed there are still uncertainties. As it stands Pot 2 will contain,

Barcelona
Atletico Madrid
Paris St-Germain
Borussia Dortmund
Porto
Napoli (if they overcome Nice)

Pot 2 will also have the two Manchester clubs. Pot 3 so far has 4 clubs in,

Basel (Switzerland)
Anderlecht (Belgium)
Besiktas (Turkey)
Roma (Italy)

The remainder of pot placing`s is undecided until after the conclusion of Tuesday and Wednesday`s qualification games. We do know Dutch champions Feyernoord have qualified but are yet to be placed in a group and German side RB Leipzig are in Pot 4.

The toughest team Chelsea will face ought to come from pot 2. On paper you would probably chose Porto and hope to avoid PSG. First group stage games are due to be played on the 12th/13th September.

To be honest though, it will just be good to have those Champions League night`s back under the floodlights of Stamford Bridge.
