Another piece of speculation lurking on the world wide web would have you believe that Chelsea are set to go head-to-head with another Premier League side for an international midfielder.

The other club in question are Tottenham Hotspur whilst the supposed target is the England international midfielder Ross Barkley.

The speculation comes courtesy of an article in The Telegraph which infers that Chelsea are set to react to a possible bid, said to be of the magnitude of £20 million for the 23-year-old from Tottenham Hotspur.

Barkley, in the final year of his contract, has refused to put pen-to-paper on a new deal at Everton Football Club.

However, for any deal to happen before the closure of the transfer window, both clubs will need to take into account the fact that the player is currently side-lined with an injury.

As for the proposed fee, £20 million, in todays inflated transfer market, seems a steal does it not?

  • We dont need him and frankly as others have opined to sign him is to essentially signal the end of the chelsea careers of Lewis Baker and RLC. Spurs are the one team of the top 6 we can bully in the transfer market (and maybe also Liverpool) but in this case i would say let the spurs have him if they want him..we have bigger fish ( and more pressing needs) to fry.

  • And like Everton are going to let us have him for 20 mill! Even Idrissa Gueye being linked to us. smh!
