According to one leading tabloid publication, Chelsea could be set to make two additions to their threadbare squad very shortly.

The good folk of the The Mirror, are intimating that Chelsea`s pursuit of the 27-year-old Leicester City midfielder, is continuing.

Our aforementioned source reckons that Chelsea are closing in on a deal, said to be of the magnitude of £30 million for the player who sat alongside N`Golo Kante in midfield when Leicester City surprised the world and won the 2015 / 2016 Premier League title.

Continuing, the same source, The Mirror, is also championing the inference that a deal for Antonio Candreva could be on the cards.

Our source is championing the suggestion that 30-year-old Candreva has been told by his club, Inter Milan, he can leave for around £25 million.

Both, in our opinion, would be valuable additions to the squad.

Here at Vital Chelsea we`ll keep an eye out for any further developments relating to these two particular deals and report back if deemed necessary.

  • Candreva knows the RWB position inside out, worked with Conte before and would be a serious upgrade on Moses. Drinkwater is a fine player, good passer, keeps possession and is a real work horse and of course is used to playing with Kante, two very good additions.

  • Candreva may be a good player but we must be concerned about his age in comparison to the money being quoted.

  • I,ll believe any of this when the deals are actually done. Till then it is just more noise without substance which does not help our team.

  • Candreva story is long dead, his agent said last Monday that he is staying at Inter, how many ageing Italian players in search of an extension have we been linked with this window ?.

  • Candreva can still be a good backup for Moses. He still get a couple of years left in him. I don’t see reason why we have not signed Drinkwater by now.
