We`re at that strange period of the season whereby we sit poised ready to continue to conquer all but have been brought to a sudden halt.
The latest international break means that we won`t play another Premier League game until April, almost two weeks.
As we approach the break you have to have to say that as far as weekends go, it was a good one.
Of the teams that threaten to spoil our massive end-of-season party, only Spurs could manage to pick up maximum points.
Arsenal showed just how much of a faded force they are, being humiliated by West Bromwich Albion, whilst Manchester City and Liverpool battled to a 1-1 draw that means both have dropped two points.
As for Manchester United, kudos to Jose Mourinho for finally, during an 18-game unbeaten run, managing to drag Manchester United up the table from fifth to sixth.
But, as we contemplate the break, the two recent wins against West Ham United and Stoke City have been wins whereby we`ve picked up maximum points at places where mere-mortals would expect us to drop points, something Thibaut Courtois has mentioned in an interview with the media with the keeper remarking,
“When you go to places like West Ham and Stoke people hope you are going to drop points.
“So that late win against Stoke must have been very demoralising for the others.
“It also meant we were able to relax in front of TV on Sunday and see what happened in the other games.
“When we come back from the international break we play Crystal Palace home, Manchester City home, Bournemouth away in a week.
“Hopefully, we can get nine points and be even closer to our objective.
“It`s a case of ticking off every game now with another win, another win, another win.”
With a maximum of 21 points needed to claim the title, that`s with Spurs winning every game between now and the end of the season, my belief is that the pressure is on those chasing us rather than ourselves don`t you think?
