Chelsea Crowds Favourite Place Under Threat With Potential New Signing

|

With the transfer window open for just over another week, speculation is rife that Maurizio Sarri is looking to bring somebody to the club who is on the books of his old club, Napoli.

According to the tabloid publication, the Mirror Sarri is keen to be reunited with Elseid Hysaj

However, if the 24-year-old does become a Chelsea player it could spell trouble for somebody who the Stamford Bridge faithful have a lot of time for, Cesar Azpilicueta.

Hysaj’s preferred position is at right-back, currently, the position Azpilicueta is playing at.

Now, it is highly unlikely, I feel, that Sarri would be looking to bring someone to the club who wouldn’t be an automatic start, it just doesn’t make sense, especially when there are other areas of the side that need more urgent attention.

However, the Azpilicueta we know isn’t likely to simply step aside and let Hysaj take his place. The Spaniard is a competent operator and one of the rare breed of players that gives you, at least, a 7 out of 10 performance every game.

Plus, as we saw when Antonio Conte was in charge, Azpilicueta is equally effective slotting into the heart of the defence.

But with Sarri making some strange decisions when it comes to team selections, nothing would surprise me anymore but I do believe that if the Italian has plans to replace Azpilicueta, he’s making a grave mistake.
