Seeing Antonio Rudiger limp away from the action, with a knee injury, wasn’t a sight we wanted to see at Old Trafford yesterday afternoon.
The popular German international defender has become a mainstay of our defence starting in 44 of the last 50 competitive matches.
The pictures from Old Trafford suggested that the defender may, possibly, have played his last game of the season and will not feature in the two remaining Premier League games against Watford (h) and Leicester (a), along with the remainder of our Europa League fixtures including the semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Naturally, an injury to our top defender brought a deluge of comments on the social media, all wishing Antonio all the best in his quest for a speedy recovery.
Illustrating the above point perfectly are the following half a dozen comments:
Sorry for what happened to you, and get better. You showed passion, fighting spirit and aggressiveness. Hope David Luiz, Jorginho and others can emulate you. I see JT in you. Thanks for today.
