Chelsea Eyeing Up Central Defender Swoop To Improve That Fragile Defence

|

The 5-3 defeat in midweek, at the hands of the 2019 / 2020 Premier League champions, Liverpool, highlighted, once again, the defensive frailties that are apparent in Frank Lampard’s Chelsea.

This summer it is essential that these are addressed if Lampard is to strike that fine balance between brilliance in attack and rock-solid at the back.

I’m guessing we all have our own thoughts on who we’d like Chelsea to sign but, today, the inference is given by The Telegraph that Chelsea are showing an interest in the Uruguayan central defender, Joel Gimenez.

Gimenez, 25-years-of-age, is currently on the books of the La Liga side, Atletico Madrid and would, in my opinion, make a decent acquisition.

However, our source also goes on to imply that Lampard would have to sell a central defender to raise the capital.

If that is the case, which of the trio of Rudiger, Zouma or Christensen can you see being off-loaded?
