Next game for Chelsea

Chelsea FC have this evening released a statement saying that Diego Costa has reached an agreement to join Atletico Madrid.

The deal will take effect on 1st January 2018 when Madrid`s current transfer embargo is lifted.
This brings to an end the long running saga that has left a very sour taste in the mouth.

Costa, was a player that you wanted to play for you, you didn`t want him on the opposing side. His character wound up the opposition, the opposition fans and the media folks, who, let`s face it, he did so much for.

The Premier League will be a much quieter place without the Brazilian-born Spanish international. At Chelsea we`ve gone from loving him, for the striker`s attitude that he had, to wanting him as far away from Stamford Bridge as possible. It`s a shame it all ended, this way.

Once the dust settles and everything has calmed down a touch, I feel sure that animosity that will be heading Costa`s way in the Wanda Metropolitano stadium on Wednesday night, will eventually die down.

After all Costa did his bit in his three years with Chelsea. 58 goals in 120 appearances speaks volumes. Sure, he had some bad moments, the diving and play acting at times were embarrassing to watch, but he just wanted to win. Something that has to be respected.

So as Costa departs and Alvaro Morata attempts to slot into the striker`s role and the ill-fated No.9 shirt, all we can do here at Vital Chelsea is to wish them both the very best as their careers move forward. The King is dead, long live the King.
