Chelsea Finally Officially Announce Chelsea Legend Lampard As Their New Boss

|

I had an inkling that as the first article of the day suggested today-just-might-be-the-day-chelsea-fans-have-been-waiting-for, and that Chelsea would officially announce the appointment of Frank Lampard as their new manager, but I didn’t, for one minute, think it’d come so early in the day.

But it has, as confirmed by The BBC, with the 41-year-old leaving Derby County after just one season in charge, to become the manager of the club where his heart is.

Lampard has put pen-to-paper on a 4-year deal and will start his new role with immediate effect with pre-season training set to commence on Friday.

As a player, for Chelsea, Lampard made 648 appearances and scored a record 211 goals for Chelsea whilst also helping the club to win 11 major trophies.

His appointment is something I’ve personally yearned for as Chelsea, operating under a two-window transfer ban, look toward developing the youth in the squad, something Lampard will be keen to do.

There may be some tough times ahead, but Lampard will be up for the task and he’ll have the support of everyone who loves Chelsea Football Club.

Now let the next chapter of our history commence.
