Chelsea Given A Huge Challenge In Carabao Cup Draw

|

With the second round of the Carabao Cup completed, we are at the stage of the competition where those teams competing in Europe join the fray.

Last night, the draw was held for the third round of the Carabao Cup, although I’m not sure how many supporters tuned in to it as the days when a domestic cup draw was big news seem to have disappeared courtesy of the huge lure of the Premier League.

However, the draw didn’t do Chelsea any favours with Maurizio Sarri’s first taste of Carabao Cup action being a very difficult tie away to Liverpool.

Usually, the top Premier League sides use the competition to give their fringe players and youngsters a chance to impress, but, with a tie of this magnitude in the offering, we are not sure that will be the case.

Perhaps, Liverpool’s forthcoming Champions League participation could favour Chelsea, but, nevertheless, it remains a tricky tie and quite probably the tie of the round.
