Our almost daily dalliance with any speculation related to the possible capture of John Stones has come up with something a little disturbing.

Whilst Chelsea have been leading the way with a couple of bids but, seemingly, upsetting Everton in the manner in which they`ve been made, we`ve had to sit back and watch as fresh speculation emerged, yesterday, inferring that Manchester City have been watching, as you may suspect, our every move.

But today, it transpires, according to the Standard the other big Manchester club, United, are now set to show an interest in acquiring the young defender.

The sudden appearance of Manchester United on the scene is being heralded as the perfect scenario for the bidding for the Everton defender to escalate towards the £34 million mark.

Furthermore, the inference is there that Louis van Gaal is about to entice Everton into selling by including a ready-made Premier League defensive replacement in the shape of Jonny Evans.

Is anyone else concerned that we could get embroiled in an auction here and see our target disappear to another bidder?
