Chelsea Hoping Deal For Argentine Striker Is Completed This Week

|

Plans to bring the ageing Argentine striker, Gonzalo Higuain, continue to generate column inches.

As much as I’d love it to be one of those deals that collapses, like many of the Vital Chelsea fraternity I’d suggest, it appears that some kind of deal is now almost inevitable.

Indeed, according to the news source, the Telegraph, Chelsea are hoping that a deal for the 31-year-old can be secured by the end of this week, thereby ensuring that Higuain would be available for selection for the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur.

Further indication that the player is Stamford Bridge-bound comes courtesy of the news source, the Evening Standard which carries remarks from the AC Milan boss, Gennaro Gattuso, that Higuain has told him he wishes to leave AC Milan and move to Chelsea.

Last night, scanning through the plethora of social media postings relating to the possible deal, I couldn’t help but smile at the suggestion from one Chelsea supporter who remains convinced that with Harry Kane injured Tottenham Hotspur will plunge a youngster into the side who will score plenty whilst Chelsea will pay over the odds for Higuain and watch him net just once between now and the close of the season.

Let’s hope we’re all proven wrong, but I wouldn’t hold your breath!
