Now I`m not sure just how much truth there is in the press coverage of Antonio Conte and Chelsea being at loggerheads.

I`d like to hope that it is all either press sensationalism or just a storm in a tea-cup.

But if one of the sticking points was a lack of transfer activity this summer, with Conte`s wishes not being fulfilled, things, if the press are correct, have certainly upped another gear.

Our friends at the Sun on Sunday are reporting that one of those on Conte`s wish-list, Alex Sandro, is set to be the subject of a transfer approach this coming week.

Our source is of the opinion that Chelsea are set to submit a bid for the 26-year-old Brazilian wing-back.

However, the sticking point, for what is seen as Chelsea`s marque signing this summer, could be the price with Juventus wanting £70 million for the player.

Chelsea`s interest in the wing-back is apparently quantified by the Juventus general director, Giuseppe Marotta, who has remarked,

“We said no to a very good offer from Chelsea for Alex Sandro.”

If that is the case, then a decision clearly as to be made as to how high Chelsea, if they really want Alex Sandro, are prepared to go to bring the player to Stamford Bridge.

I guess only time will tell.

  • Would be on par for us as getting N’Golo last season IMHO. This is the standard of player we should be at leat trying to buy. Woulld be amazing for us.

  • Would be delighted to have him. But in regards to what we currently have we need more of an upgrade on the right to replace Moses than Alonso on the left.

  • Moses having another great season at the right back position will be a miracle. I was expecting Kennedy to lay claim to that position but he seems to be off-gear in those few minutes of action he was given last season.

  • Kenedy is a natural left wing, so I’m not sure why you’d expect that. The inverted winger was Mourinho’s thing.

  • We do not necessarily need a back up for moses. it’s Alonso that needs a back up or an upgrade. Azpi can play right wingback just like moses.

  • Alonso would have been world class if he had that burst of pace, the main reason we need an upgrade, his lack of pace is so glaring just imagine him up against bale

  • Why not Mandy, I don’t really know much of the two guys cent For.that I have read on this site but Mendy appears to be an equally competent LWB and won’t cost as high as 70m that Juve is asking
