After having been restricted by the FIFA imposed transfer ban, last summer, the Chelsea support were, perhaps, hoping that this summer may see a flurry of transfer activity when it comes to players coming to Stamford Bridge.
Unfortunately, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which is set to have major financial implications for the game as a whole, could see Chelsea have to revisit their plans, indeed, it is fair to say that the club could have to be more prudent with their cash.
As a result, it is not surprising that Chelsea are now being linked with young players, future servants that will not break the bank.
Today, The Sun is running with the inference that Chelsea are taking a serious interest in the young teenage centre back, Xavier Mbuyamba.
Mbuyamba, just 18-years of age, is a Dutchman on the books of Barcelona.
Considering his tender years Mbuyamba could well be someone for the future, a defender to step into the breach in two or three years time.
Now whether the deal goes through, in what are complicated times, remains to be seen.
