Chelsea Keen To Tie Emerging Midfield Talent To A Longer Deal

|

Yesterday, against Watford, Ruben Loftus-Cheek started the game on the substitutes bench.

After a more than decent performance, in Frankfurt, in midweek, Ruben had every right to feel disappointed that he’d not made the starting eleven, however, he’s wise enough to know, even at the young age of twenty-three, squad rotation comes into play when the fixtures are coming thick and fast.

As it turned out, Ruben got to see some action quicker than he may have anticipated when with just ten minutes gone he was introduced in place of the injury-stricken N’Golo Kante.

The day got even better for the talented midfielder when he got the opening goal of the game ensuring Chelsea went on to record a victory that would, as it turns out thanks to Arsenal’s failure to beat Brighton, ensure Chelsea would be playing Champions League football next season.

After the game, speaking to the media and as reported by the BBC Maurizio Sarri had nothing but praise for the England midfielder, remarking:

“Ruben Loftus-Cheek is not just for me but for English football. He is improving match by match he can become one of the best midfielders in Europe, not only in England. He has very great potential and in the next season he will be for sure one of the best midfielders, not only in England.”

Which explains exactly why the red-top publication, the Sun, is reporting that Chelsea are keen to open talks with the player about a new contract even though his current one has two years left to run.

This season has been a decent season for Ruben, next season could be the season when he becomes a star, mark my words.
