Chelsea – Lampard Out Allegri In Speculation

|

Don’t you dare do it, Chelsea!

When Frank Lampard was appointed as the new manager of Chelsea Football Club, back in the summer of 2019, I believed it signalled a new approach when it came to the incumbent of the Stamford Bridge hot seat.

I believed we had moved away from the hire-them-and-fire-then philosophy adhered to since Roman Abramovich bought the club lock, stock and barrel.

Last season, his first in charge, saw Lampard guide the club to a very respectable 4th place in the Premier League while also reaching the FA Cup Final, a very respectable achievement considering the club were hindered by a transfer ban.

This summer, Frank has invested significantly in the summer transfer window and it is clear to see that Chelsea are building a side that will see them make a return to challenging for the Premier League title, just as we used to.

But it is clearly a work in progress, the truncated close-season, courtesy of the COVID-19 pandemic, has given the new players little chance to settle in and adjust to life at a new club.

However, from what we have seen, once the leaky defence is tightened up, Chelsea, under Frank Lampard, have a glittering future.

But already there is speculation appearing in the mainstream media implying that patience is not something our owner, Roman Abramovich, is not prepared to grant Lampard for ever.

The run of recent results, whereby teams such as West Bromwich Albion and Southampton have put three past our defence has opened the door, slightly ajar, to the inference there could be a change made at the managerial helm thereby negating our hopes of Lampard creating his own Chelsea dynasty.

Among the many media streams to have picked up on this thread is The Daily Star which, along with others, reports that if Lampard is unable to prevent a run of indifferent results then Chelsea will turn to the Italian tactician, Massimiliano Allegri.

If that is the case, then it will be a dark day for our club, a day when we will have returned to type and that famous hire-them-and-fire-them policy.

Frank has been operating in difficult circumstances, in a strange environment, we all have to abide by presently and surely deserves time to build his side.

After all, Jurgen Klopp was given four years before he made Liverpool the force they are now, doesn’t Frank deserve something similar!
