Chelsea Legend And Hero Set To Make Huge Career Decision

|

The last forty-eight hours have seen speculation appearing in the media relating to a former Chelsea player.

But, this is no ordinary Chelsea player it is Ashley Cole, one of the heroes of that marvellous night, in the Allianz Arena back in May 2012, when Chelsea beat Bayern Munich to claim the Champions League trophy for the first time.

On that magical night who’ll ever forget the purposeful way, Cole strode forward to take his turn in the penalty shoot-out and score with what was, probably, the best penalty of the night.

Cole, now 37-years-of-age, has been plying his trade, in the US, with LA Galaxy but, earlier this week, it looked very much as if his time with the club was coming to an end with his contract having expired and a new one not forthcoming.

However, in a matter of twenty-four hours, the situation has changed with the tabloid publication, the Sun, revealing that the US club have done an about turn and offered Cole a new deal, albeit on reduced terms.

But, another source, the Mirror, is championing the suggestion that Cole is interested in a move back to the UK to continue his playing career, with the insinuation being that he has had offers from a number of Championship clubs.

It’d be great to see Cole back in English football and I can’t help wondering whether those offers might involve the likes of Derby County and Aston Villa with both clubs having huge Chelsea connections.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
