I’m not sure how strong the foundations are for this particular piece of transfer speculation but it’s worth an honourable mention as we continue to contemplate life without any Premier League action.

I’d be very surprised if Chelsea were not to bring another striker to the club, once the summer transfer window opens but I’d be more than a little surprised if it is this one.

The French news source, Le Quotidiendufoot is running a feature relating to the future of the Metz striker, Habib Diallo.

The 24-year-old Senegalese striker is said to be interesting the current leaders of the Championship, Leeds United.

However, hidden in the text if the inference that Diallo, currently on the books of Metz, is also interesting Chelsea as well as another London club, Crystal Palace.

But, as we delve deeper, we find that Chelsea might have been interested in the striker once but whether that interest is still there remains questionable.

Our quoted source reminds us that, back in January, Diallo was seen as a possible signing when it was hinted that Olivier Giroud might be leaving Stamford Bridge.

My view is that Chelsea will be looking for a striker but if it’s this one I’d be majorly surprised.

Is that a view you concur with?
