A piece of interesting transfer speculation has emerged.
It links Chelsea with the acquisition, next summer, of a versatile player who would bring that something extra to any club he joins.
The player in question is David Alaba.
Several media sources, including The Daily Mail point out that the 28-year-old’s deal, with Bayern Munich, expires next year and there has been no progress on a new deal being signed with Bayern Munich unwilling to meet the players demands which include a salary of £280,000 a week.
Alaba has been at Bayern since he was a youngster and has made 398 appearances for the club.
Initially, a left-back, Alaba is now more than capable of playing as a central defender and also in midfield.
But his potential availability is also interesting Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Juventus.
However, Chelsea appear to have a head start on the others with it being reported, by our source, that his agent, Pini Zahavi will start negotiations with Chelsea next year.
I would jump at the chance of David Alaba coming to Stamford Bridge but a little part of me fears the inclusion of our name (and others) could be to simply force Bayern Munich back to the negotiating table.
I guess only time will tell.
