Although much has been said about Chelsea targeting the likes of Leonardo Bonucci and Virgil van Dijk, to stiffen up the heart of the Chelsea defence, another name has been thrown into the mix this morning.

Lurking in the pages of the Express, is the insinuation that Chelsea could be about to make a shock move for a Greek international.

The defender in question is Kostas Manola, a 26-year-old who is currently on the books of the Serie A side Roma.

Manola was, according to our referenced source, set to make a move to Zenit St Petersburg but it appears Chelsea are set to interrupt that plan by offering Roma a fee, said to be in the region of £35 million for the centre-back.

Now whether this piece of speculation has solid foundations or not I guess we`ll find out over the coming days.
