Chelsea Linked With The Surprise Capture Of An England International

|

Currently on a fine run of form, since football resumed following its stoppage courtesy of the COVID-19 pandemic, it remains essential that Frank Lampard is provided with the opportunity to bring in yet more talent this summer.

With two signings already done and dusted, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, speculation remains rife that Chelsea are keen to secure yet more top talent.

Over the last forty-eight hours, The Sun has been suggesting that Chelsea may make an unlikely move to shore up their defence by making West Ham United an offer for Declan Rice.

The inference being that the Hammers, who are currently involved in a relegation battle, might be prepared to part with the player for a fee of £45 million.

Furthermore, our referenced source goes on to imply that although Rice plays as a holding midfielder for his current club, Chelsea believe he could be the commanding figure, at the heart of the defence, the club needs.

To me, it all seems a bit unlikely, could a deal really be done to bring the former Chelsea youngster back to the squad for the fee mentioned?
