Chelsea Looking Towards Spain To Sign Another Centre-Back

|

The acquisition of the veteran defender, Thiago Silva, has proven to be a masterstroke by Frank Lampard.

After settling in at the club, the 36-year-old has galvanised Chelsea’s defensive capabilities and still looks a world-class act.

But we are realistic enough to acknowledge that the club still need further options at the heart of the defence.

Silva, due to his age, is unlikely to play every game and although Kurt Zouma has looked very assured next to Thiago you get this feeling that the defence is nowhere near as strong without the Brazilian.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise to read, in The Sun that Chelsea are looking to add another centre-back to their squad.

According to our referenced source, the club are keeping a close eye on the Uruguayan defender, Jose Gimenez.

Gimenez, 25-years-of-age, is currently on the books of the Spanish club, Atletico Madrid.

Highly rated, any chances of a successful approach for the player will require some delicate negotiations.

But he would certainly get my vote as an additional option at the heart of our defence, but is that a view you concur with?
