Chelsea Midfielder Struck Down By Cruel Injury Blow

|

Earlier this summer we were of the firm opinion that the time had come for Chelsea and their Dutch midfielder, Marco van Ginkel, to part company.

Since signing for the club, for £8 million, back in 2013, the Dutch midfielder, now 25-years-of-age, has been restricted to just four appearances.

For much of his time contracted to Chelsea Football Club, he has been sent out on loan, with spells with Stoke City and AC Milan.

However more recently, Marco has been enjoying successful times with PSV Eindhoven, helping the Dutch side to win the title in 2015 / 2016 and 2017 / 2018.

Indeed, it was expected that it would be PSV where Marco would end up, returning to Holland on a permanent deal.

Unfortunately, it appears that won’t be the case, at least for a considerable period of time.

The BBC, are reporting that the Dutchman has picked up a serious knee injury, rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

Marco has had corrective surgery but faces up to eight months on the sidelines as he completes a lengthy rehabilitation period.

I’m sure you’ll join us here at Vital Chelsea in sending Marco our best wishes and hope his recovery is a successful one.
