Chelsea Move Swiftly To Bring Calm To A Crisis

|

In the next twenty-four hours, here at Vital Chelsea, we fully expect the on-going goalkeeping situation to be resolved.

The indications are that there will be a new man between the posts this coming season with several news sources, including, the Guardian, implying that Chelsea are set to smash the world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper by meeting the buy-out clause in the contract of the Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Seemingly, in order to replace Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea are set to pay Athletic Bilbao £71.5 million for the 23-year-old.

Elsewhere in the media, the Spanish news source, AS, is suggesting that Kepa was on his way to London, on Tuesday night, to finalise the move which will, understandably, see the goalkeeper receive a substantial increase in his salary.

As for Courtois, the Belgian international has yet to return to training, after his World Cup exertions, as he tries to force through a move to Real Madrid.

Consequently, according to the news vehicle, the Daily Mail Chelsea are set to exercise their option to fine the Belgian the maximum allowable in the circumstances, a cool £200,000.

Here at Vital Chelsea, we’re glad that this problem looks set to be resolved and, if, Courtois doesn’t want to play for our fine club no more, then the words good riddance spring to mind.
