Is it really more than five years since that wonderful night in the Allianz Arena, when Chelsea beat Bayern Munich in their own back-yard to win the Champions League?

My, how time flies!

Last season was the first for an age whereby Chelsea didn`t compete in European football, finishing tenth in the 2015 / 2016 season put paid to that.

But, this coming season, Chelsea are back in the Champions League and set to grace the stage on which the club belongs.

However, Antonio Conte has a word or two for those who are hoping Chelsea can go all the way and emulate the class of 2012, with the Italian remarking about our Champions League participation,

“I know we have a lot of road ahead before we can try and win the Champions League.

“You need a bit of time to create to build every season.

“It is important to know the reality and then try to improve.”

Continuing, Antonio talks about Bayern Munich, a side who beat us on our recent Far East tour, with Conte adding,

“Bayern are ready to fight to win the Champions League as every season they try to improve.

“For them it is easier now because they have a good structure.

“You arrive at the end of the season and sign one or two players to improve your team but you have 17 or 18 players for a good basis.

“Then you can pay £80 million for one player and your transfer market is finished.”

Some interesting words from Antonio, are Chelsea looking to follow the Bayern Munich route to longevity?

Your thoughts on the above would be greatly appreciated.
