Chelsea Ready To Add Another Midfielder To The Squad

|

Lurking in the media this morning is the inference that Chelsea are leading the race to sign a midfielder.

Yes, you’ve read it right, another midfielder.

Although in the past twelve months the trio of Tiemoue Bakayoko, Ross Barkley and Danny Drinkwater have all been purchased, it seems, if our source, the Mirror is correct, Chelsea are set to beat the likes of Arsenal to the signature of Jean-Michael Seri.

Seri, 26-years-of-age, is currently on the books of the French club Lyon, for whom he made 30 appearances last season scoring on 2 occasions.

An Ivory Coast international, Seri, according to our source, was linked with a move to Barcelona last summer but a move never materialised.

But, what you have to ask yourself is whether Seri is better than the aforementioned trio or even Reuben Loftus-Cheek who is set to return to Stamford Bridge after a season-long loan spell with Crystal Palace and who has been selected for the forthcoming World Cup by Gareth Southgate.

Purely because of the Barcelona connection, my view is that Seri would be an upgrade and could be the perfect partner for N’Golo Kante, after all, I can’t recall Barkley, Drinkwater or Bakayoko being linked with a move to the Camp Nou, can you?
