This Sunday, Chelsea make the long trek to the north-east to take on Newcastle United.

It is a fixture Chelsea, in recent seasons, haven’t fared too well in.

Last season, with the FA Cup Final on the horizon, Chelsea travelled to St James Park and gave, quite possibly, their worst performance of the season, losing 3-0.

Hopefully, things will be much better when Maurizio Sari leads his side out of the dressing room and into action.

However, it appears that a win against Newcastle this Sunday will see Sarri join a very exclusive club.

The Italian will become the fifth Chelsea manager to win his opening three Premier League fixtures, following in the footsteps of:

• Antonio Conte

• Carlo Ancelotti

• Guus Hiddink

• Jose Mourinho.

A win would also see Chelsea extend their own record of having won their opening three fixtures of a new season, a record which currently stands at eight.

Now, let’s not mess this one up boys!

  • Meh. Are we being primed for these small victories, as a sign that they’re all that we’ll be celebrating?
