Chelsea Ready To Splash A Huge Amount Of Cash On A New Centre Back Claim

|

With the January transfer window fast approaching it’ll certainly be interesting to see whether Maurizio Sarri is allowed to add to his squad or whether he is forced to wait until the next summer transfer window.

Whatever the scenario, speculation has emerged this morning that Chelsea have their eyes on bringing a central defender to the club.

According to the news source, the Sun, Chelsea are taking a long, hard look at the Inter Milan defender, Milan Skriniar.

The 23-year-old Slovakian international is valued around the £70 million mark, which would herald another huge expenditure by Chelsea Football Club if a deal were to be sealed.

Also mentioned as a possible destination for the player is Old Trafford with, you know who, also sniffing around.

But, do Chelsea need to add an expensive central defender to the squad?

Some would say yes, with Gary Cahill set, if the speculation is correct, ready to leave and also with David Luiz hitting the ripe-old-age of 33 next birthday.

But others would say no, pointing out that the out-of-favour Andreas Christensen should be given time to flourish whilst the talented young Welsh international, Ethan Ampadu is ready to step into the heart of the defence.

It’s a difficult one to call, since arriving at Stamford Bridge, Sarri has hardly put a foot wrong and Chelsea looks to be a far happier club than during Antonio Conte’s second season at Stamford Bridge.

Perhaps, for once, I’ll sit on the fence and rely on the Italian’s judgement on this matter.
