Unearthing young talent that can be nurtured and introduced into the side is a difficult proposition.

Our own experience, at Chelsea, whereby youngsters brought through the Academy rarely make that crucial leap into the first-team squad, proves the point.

So many are sent out on loan for a few seasons and then, eventually, sold, it questions whether the Academy serves it`s genuine purpose or is better suited to being labelled another revenue stream.

Today, the leading red-top publication this country produces, The Sun, is intimating that Chelsea, along with Manchester United, are interested in an Italian teenage striker.

The striker in question is Pietro Pellegri.

However, Pellegri, who is on the books of Genoa is just a mere 16-years of age.

Furthermore, our referenced source is suggesting that Genoa are not willing to sell their talented asset for anything less than £40 million.

£40 million?

The world, since Paris Saint-Germain paid a world record transfer fee for Neymar Jnr, of £197 million, has gone mad has it not!
